China provides a unique opportunity for Chinese entrepreneurs with experience in Silicon Valley to make a real difference. The 2005 IPOs by VC funded technology companies based in China were worth over $4.5 billion at the end of August 2005, in comparison the IPOs by VC funded technology companies based in the US were worth only about $2.8 billion. The majority of the Chinese companies that successfully go public have founders with US experience. Recent examples include Baidu, SMIC, CTrip and 51Jobs.
