Jack Q. Gao, Chairman and CEO, WhaleTV
At the invitation of Dr. Robert Lee, Chairman of AAMA, I attended the 2026 AAMA Professional Mixer in Silicon Valley. I also joined colleagues in the Greater Bay Area via video to introduce AAMA and share Whale TV’s global strategy.
The occasion reminded me that my journey with AAMA now spans more than 25 years. Since its founding in Silicon Valley in 1979, AAMA has served as a vital bridge between Silicon Valley and Asia’s innovation ecosystems. Over the years, AAMA Beijing has helped mentor more than 800 entrepreneurs and supported the growth of 66 publicly listed companies.
I remain deeply grateful to Silicon Valley pioneers Peter Liu, Li-Pu Tan, and Dr. Robert Lee for introducing me to AAMA. It has also been a privilege to mentor entrepreneurs such as David Lin and Su Haizheng and witness their companies successfully go public.
What began as a connection in Silicon Valley has become a lifelong journey. Grateful for the friendships, the community, and our shared commitment to innovation.

Last night at the AAMA Silicon Valley Mixer in Palo Alto, I had the opportunity to experience that connection firsthand.
The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, reconnecting with friends, meeting new people, and engaging with international founders, tech executives, entrepreneurs, and venture investors, all over great wine and a strong sense of community.
One of the highlights was learning more about AAMA’s history, how it began nearly 5 decades ago as a small group of visionary leaders in Silicon Valley and has continued to grow into a strong network that fosters tech entrepreneurship, leadership, and cross border connections.
As a startup business immigration attorney, I especially value spaces where the journeys of founders from Asia and around the world intersect with Silicon Valley’s innovation ecosystem.
Appreciative to Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, HL Winery, and Garage Gal for hosting such a memorable evening.
Looking forward to continuing the conversations and building on these new connections.
